Cost
There is no cost to participate in the SPUR activities. However, you must produce a poster for the symposium. Many individuals choose to print a single poster which can be expensive ($50-100). The cost of this poster is typically covered by your summer program (e.g. Clark program) or your faculty mentor. You can also choose to print your poster out as individual 11(w)x8.5(h) slides which can be individually placed on the poster board.
Abstracts
All participating students will submit a 250-word (maximum) abstract. The abstract submission portal will be available beginning July 1, 2025. All abstracts must be submitted online by 5 p.m. on July 15, 2025. No late submissions will be accepted after the deadline. Additional guidelines and hints for preparing the abstract can be found on the Abstracts page.
Presentation Types
All participating students are expected to produce a poster. In addition, during the abstract submission process, interested students are able to volunteer to present a short oral presentation. A small group of students will be selected to give these oral presentations.
Poster Presentations
All participants will need to prepare a poster. Please see the Poster Presentations page for more details. Participants and faculty mentors are responsible for printing, setting up, and removing posters. Students must be prepared to hang their posters between 10:00-11:00 am on the day of the event before the Symposium begins.
Oral Presentations
If you volunteered for an oral presentation, we will tell you within one week of your abstract submission if you will be giving an oral presentation. We will provide all necessary details if you are presenting an oral presentation.
